SM768 USB/Network Display Solution

Silicon Motion’s graphics display SoC enables multiple displays at 4K ultra-high definition through USB, Ethernet, or Wi-Fi interfaces. Target applications include USB display docking stations/adapters, USB monitors, zero/thin clients, point-of-sale (POS) terminals, wireless displays, digital signage, video conferencing systems, and more.

The display SoC can connect to a host through PCIe or it can connect to laptop/PC through an integrated USB 3.0 interface. Silicon Motion's content adaptive technology (CAT™) uses multiple image and video processing algorithms to compress display data and minimize bandwidth usage. At the same time, CAT uses minimal host CPU usage to achieve low-latency and high-quality displays.

Additionally, this display SoC has an integrated video processing unit (VPU) to accelerate H.264 and MPEG4 decoding. The embedded Arm® Cortex®-R5 processor enables real-time operating system (RTOS) execution of timing critical and fast-response applications. The integrated 256 MB DDR3 memory through a multi-chip module (MCM) package is optional and can save PCB space and reduce total system cost.
