ADM4856 Full-Duplex RS-485/RS-422 Transceivers
Analog Devices ADM4856 RS-485/RS-422 Transceivers are differential line transceivers designed for high-speed, full duplex data communication on multi-point bus transmission lines. ADM4856 transceivers provide balanced data transmission and comply with EIA Standards RS-485 and RS-422. The full duplex ADM4856 transceivers feature dedicated differential line driver outputs and receiver inputs. With a 1/8-unit-load receiver input impedance, ADM4856 allows up to 256 transceivers on a bus. The receiver inputs include a true fail-safe feature to ensure a logic high output level when the inputs are open or shorted. The driver outputs are slew-rate limited in order to reduce EMI and data errors caused by reflections from improperly terminated buses. A thermal shutdown circuit prevents excessive power dissipation caused by bus contention or by output shorting. Fully specified over the commercial and industrial temperature ranges, ADM4856 transceivers are well-suited for low power RS-485 applications, EMI-sensitive systems, DTE-DCE interfaces, industrial control, packet switching, local area networks, and level translators.Learn More
