MSP430FR41xx ultra-low-power (ULP) microcontroller family supports low-cost LCD applications that benefit from an integrated 10-bit ADC such as remote controls, thermostats, smart meters, blood glucose monitors, and blood pressure monitors. The MCUs feature a powerful 16-bit RISC CPU, 16-bit registers, and constant generators that contribute to maximum code efficiency. The digitally controlled oscillator (DCO) allows the device to wake up from low-power modes to active mode in less than 10 µs. The architecture, combined with extensive low-power modes, is optimized to achieve extended battery life in portable measurement applications.

The MSP430™ FRAM microcontroller platform combines uniquely embedded ferroelectric random access memory (FRAM) and a holistic ultra-low-power system architecture, allowing system designers to increase performance while lowering energy consumption. FRAM technology combines the low-energy fast writes, flexibility, and endurance of RAM with the nonvolatile behavior of flash.

MSP430FRx Ultra Low-Power FRAM MCUs
OMO Electronic MSP430FRx Ultra Low-Power FRAM Microcontrollers (MCUs) consist of embedded FRAM non-volatile memory plus an ultra-low-power 16-bit MSP430 CPU, and different peripherals targeted for various applications. These MCUs feature seven low-power modes that are optimized to achieve extended battery life in portable and wireless sensing applications. With FRAM non-volatile memory, it combines the speed, flexibility, and endurance of SRAM with the stability and reliability of flash with lower total power consumption. These devices include a variety of peripherals, including a 10-bit ADCs, 16-channel comparator, and hysteresis capabilities, three enhanced serial channels capable of I2C, SPI, or UART protocols, internal DMA, hardware multiplier, real-time clock, five 16-bit timers, and more. These devices are ideal for use in cold chain applications because they allow the engineer to write quicker to save power. By using flexible non-volatile FRAM you can store application, data or both. By using FRAM, it also allows the highest reliability by being able to log data continuously with a 1015 write endurance and proven 10-year data retention at 85ºC. The MSP430FRx-EP devices have gold bondwires, a temperature range of –55 to +105°C and include a SnPb lead finish.
