MCP331 Analog-to-Digital Converters

Microchip’s MCP331x devices are single-ended 16-bit, 14-bit, and 12-bit, single-channel 1 Msps and 500 kSPS analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) featuring low power consumption and high performance, using a successive approximation register (SAR) architecture. The devices operate with a 2.5 V to 5.1 V external reference (VREF) which supports a wide range of input full-scale range from 0 V to VREF. The reference voltage setting is independent of the analog supply voltage (AVDD) and is higher than AVDD. The conversion output is available through an easy-to-use simple SPI compatible 3-wire interface. These devices have 1 M samples/second, one input channel, low power consumption (0.8 µA typical standby, 1.6 mA typical active), and are offered in a compact 10-pin MSOP package. The MCP331 ADCs feature a full differential input, high performance, and low power consumption in a small package. This rich feature set makes these products well-suited for battery-powered systems and remote data acquisition applications such as medical instrumentation, motor control, test equipment, and switch-mode power supplies.
